The art of block printing originated over 4,000 years ago. It is most often associated with India, particularly the city of Jaipur, and holds a great deal of historical significance in that region of the world. Block printing is a relief print technique where art is carved into a block then inked and printed onto various surfaces. Block printing eventually spread to Europe where it was used to print books and create works of art.
